Showcase Austria – 08. and 09.03.2023 in Copenhagen
This year’s Showcase Austria of the WKO’s foreign trade office in Copenhagen (Denmark) – perfectly organized by Marlies Koppelhuber of Advantage Austria Nordic – took place from Wednesday, 08.03.to Thursday, 09.03.2023 in a hip location of start-ups and community sharing offices in the old industrial area of Copenhagen. There were on the one hand numerous lectures of Austrian firm representatives of the timber construction and/or the timber industry – which are already successful in Denmark in the timber construction – as well as on the other hand building site attendance of converted and/or in conversion of large-volume timber construction projects under Austrian guidance.
In the course of the presentations on the first day, Jörg Koppelhuber gave an input lecture to about 45 participants entitled “multi-storey timber buildings in Austria – study on current market share and concepts in a turbulent cost situation”. There was great interest on the part of the representatives of Danish architecture and engineering offices as well as other Danish wood construction enthusiasts both for his lecture and for the numerous project and plant presentations of the Austrian wood construction companies.
On the second day, the delegation visited some recently realized and under construction Danish timber construction projects in and around Odense, about 2 h west of Copenhagen. Both the imposing Storebaelt Bridge (the fourth largest suspension bridge in the world) to be crossed on the way to Odense and the imposing wooden buildings aroused great enthusiasm among the participants.
Below are some impressions of the construction sites Lerchesgade and COBOT as well as the recently completed Hans Christian Andersen Museum in Odense by Japanese star architect Kengo Kuma.
